Meet the brothers of ATO!
The brothers of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity would like to congratulate you on your interest in ATO. This transition in life marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, your college career, a journey which will take you many places and teach you new, wonderous things.
Your life in college is what you make it out to be, you will get out of it what you put in. While most of your time will be spent in the classroom getting an education to further your career after college, getting involved in campus organizations and activities, creating friendships and developing leadership skills will be equally important pieces to the puzzle that is college life. Fraternity life offers an excellent place to experience all that college life has to offer, the glue that can put those pieces together. We at ATO strongly encourage that you take the time to meet fraternity member and accept opportunities to find out what fraternity life has to offer. Then use your experience to make an informed decision on whether or not to join a fraternity, and if so, which one is the best fit for you.
Alpha Tau Omega was founded in 1865 by three young men who sought to bring together a nation that had been torn apart by a war that put man against man, brother against brother. Its founders established a fraternity which would promote strength through brotherhood and acceptance of our fellow man. Through these principles of friendship and love, ATO has become one the nation’s largest and most respected fraternities in the entire country with over 240 active and inactive chapters and more than 181,000 brothers.
The Zeta Upsilon chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity was charted on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Kearney back in 1966, when the college was still Kearney State. ATO has won many campus awards since its inception in 1966, more recently winning the IFC’s 2006 Nester Cup, an award for the top fraternity on campus that semester. The ATO chapter accomplished that by achieving a still fraternity record 3.31 grade point average for the Spring 2006 semester. In the Spring 2008 semester, ATO became one of the very few Greek organizations to be recognized as Organization of the Month by the National Residence Hall Honorary, for our work with our first annual pancake feed and our second annual Bracke-TAU-logy contest. The Zeta Upsilon chapter is starting to get recognized nationally for the work we are putting in to make this chapter, we just recieved our second True Merit Award from National. We are one of the best in the country, on our way to hopefully taking Top Chapter at the next annual ATO Congress.
ATO is seeking men of integrity and enthusiasm. If you feel that you have these traits or would like to become involved in an organization that has a reputation for such characteristics then ATO is right for you. You can get involved by attending a few of our events throughout the year or by contacting our chapter president. Thank you for your interest in our fraternity and we wish you the best of luck throughout your college career.
